Re: Slow Flusher

Drain blockage/restrictions. Could also be a low level in the tank.

Re: Slow Flusher

It's really pretty simple. water in, water out. If the tank is to level when you flush, it has to be in the drains.

Re: Slow Flusher

I use a allen wrench folding set, start with a small one, wiggle it around in each hole. then move up in size, till it opens them up more then they are.

Re: Slow Flusher

Ditto the flush ring. Coat hanger, stiff wire, torch cleaners might be some other things to try to get the crud out.

Re: Slow Flusher

Try removing all the water from the bowl and pouring some CLR in it ,let it sit over night. Spray the underside where all the small holes are aswell. You will not believe the crud that will come loose when you flush it.

Re: Slow Flusher

Concentrate on the rodding the flushring out. If that does not solve the problem, I think I would try and auger on the toilet itself. The auger would not hurt anyway. Strange things can get in the toilet.

Re: Slow Flusher

Make a temp plug out of toilet paper, shove it into the jet siphon hole in the bowl. Then you pour CLR or muriatic (my favorite) in the overflow tube in the tank. This will clean the rim. Let sit for 30 mins, then flush and carefully remove the paper.

Re: Slow Flusher

muriatic? and remove very ycarefully? Whew, I'd say VERY carefully,....if I all! Strong stuff! Heheh, I'd be scared to turn the light on/off when those fumes build up in a small bathroom. Maybe I am too cautious though.

Re: Slow Flusher

Save yourself some hassle and future trouble. That toilet wont flush good anymore because of hard water deposits inside the toilet itself. You can ream the little holes out all you want to but inside the passageways it will still be loaded with buildup. Dont be so cheap, go buy an American Standard Cadet 3 with a 3" flush valve that flushes as good as any 3 gallon toilet ever did for 125 bucks.

Re: Slow Flusher

I have always been able to get a toilet with clogged up flush ring holes to flush good after cleaning them out, so saying it won't work good anymore is not entirely ture, I have never replaced one yet.

Re: Slow Flusher

The acid works on the crusties in the rim and siphon hole that you can't get at with wire. Turd boy is right about it being a good way to sell a toilet by not fixing.

Re: Slow Flusher

Is it true that you can pour the acid into water, but never water into acid? I allways think of that when I here toilet and acid.

I'm thinking that has do with splash danger. We have a substance here we sometime use for cleaning main drain lines. Pour it down the soil stack or vent usually, and we do not look down the pipe to see if it makes it to the bottom! Also kind of step back if pouring lye or any acid like substance down a basin drain in case of violent reaction.
