Showerhead Gooseneck

I am finishing off the basement bathroom in my own house, the only thing i have left to do is install the gooseneck and showerhead.

The trouble I am having is when I tighten on the gooseneck it isnt pointing down when I tighten it, it about 1/4 turn past where it should be, if i loosen it off and make it point down, it is way too loose

I had a plumber rough in the shower for me, and I was planning on installing the shower head thinking it would be easy hahah. If anyone could give me some advice, that would be great.
