Shower Head

I'm a painter so I'll do my best to explain this accuratley. The pipe that runs out of the wall that the shower head screws onto is a lil different in my house than most i guess. Instead of that pipe having the male thread it has like a collar with female threads. Now, my showerhead is falling apart so i need a new on. But I cannot find a shower head that has male threads. Are they still made? Where can i get one? I wouldn't mind just replacing that pipe, but i believe its soldered in there.

Re: Shower Head

Yea your right, and yes Symmons still makes there male thread shower heads. Or you could get a close nipple and use a regular female head.
Look up Symmons, S-96-2 tub and shower valve, you will find those parts there.

Re: Shower Head

You should also be able to remove the pipe and replace with a standard male - male fitting. Just wrap new fitting with tape and screw in place. Use one handle inserted into the end of the new fitting of a set of channel locks to help tighten the new fitting.

Re: Shower Head

Is this "close Nipple" an item I can pick up at the harware store? Is it anything special, or just like an adapter that goes from the threads I have, to the threads i need? Thanks, Phil

Re: Shower Head

Oh I am quite sure any hadware store would carry 1/2" close brass nipples, just pick one up and a little teflon tape and your all set.

Re: Shower Head

LOL Bob, When given the option of a new shower head or a nipple, I gotta tell I picked the nipple just cause it sounded like more fun. But seriously, Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help!
