Question

I have a basement room with a slab floor that has a rough in for a toilet bowl but nothing else. The owner wants to install a bathtub or shower. There is a high ceiling and a 12" raised floor can installed and still leave over 7' of height for the room. Can I tie the shower drain into the raised pipe for the toilet? I would rather not cut into the slab.

I'm not a plumber, But I don't think by code you can do that and have the proper seperation required for the vent. ( I may be wrong)

Yes, they call that wet venting but, if the local building dept. is under the Uniform Plumbing Code it will have to come off the vent for the tiolet and the min. size for the wet vet section will have to be 3 inch pipe. So if you don't have a 3 inch vent for the toilet then you will have to bust up the slab.
Good Luck

Wet vents are the way to go. Check the rough for the lav. Is this wet venting the toilet?
