ok..ok..that was a smart a$$ reply, sorry
There is this thing called the "frost line" and it's usually between 12 and 48" below the grade. Different cities/states have different requirements for the depth of water pipes to be buried. Example "......water service must be 24"below the frost line from the top of the supply pipe..." So, if the code says 24" is the frost line, and code says 24" is the required depth, than 48" is the depth it needs to be at. I think it's 36" in L.A. I don't dig them anymore, I got fat and have helpers do that now..... Hope that answers your question!! |
