One For Well System Pro's.

My diaphram pressure tank keeps losing pressure. I serviced it about two days ago when the pump started short cycling and it doing it again.

Then, I pulled the Schrader valve, under pressure, to check for a broken diaphram, not a hint of moisture. I pumped up the air to 28, the switch is set for 30. I then spent 30 mins pouring a gal. of dishsoap/water over the entire tank, no bubbles anywhere.

Could it be that the diaphram has become semi-permiable?

That's a lot of air in only two days.

Could your schraeder core be leaking? That's a popular place for a/c systems to leak.

That was my first thought. I filled the stem with soapy water and nary a bubble in 1/2 hr. Same with the base of the stem and all tank welds.

The air is probably leaking out of the diaphram into the water. I've seen it before where the bladder has no water in it, but is still bad. New tank time.

Correct me if i am wrong but a diaphram tank will work just fine with the diaphram split. Just for a short time. But way more than two days.(months)then you just have to unwaterlog it. the air will still be trapped in the tank giving you expansion cushion. All the old tanks allthough larger do not have diaphrams.

The bladder is what has the water in it and the air is outside the bladder.

I agree. I've had non-bladder p tanks and they worked fine most of the time.
