No Rags
Ok guys, I'll post this here to give you plumbers a good laugh
Right now I'm building a garage. I had to cut the 4" pipe that was stubbed up for a clean out next to the trough drain flush with the concrete, so I could get the forklift in the garage to lift the trusses. I picked the biggest rag that I had just to stuff in the pipe temporarily to keep anything from goin down it, it was wedged in there pretty tight. I ended up forgeting all about the rag. Well, Friday I got rained out at the job. There is no roof on the building yet, I guess the water was pretty strong it washed the rag down the pipe into the main sewer of the house. I get a call from the HO saying his basement commode was gushing out water, all the rain water had no place to go but out the commode. Luckily the rag was caught after the commode but before the basement floor drain so all the water drained! I called my plumber up,after he stopped laughing at me we spent the day Sat snaking the drain. And pulled the rag right out. Nothing like like looking like an idiot in front of the HO![]() ![]() . Well thats my story I had to tell people than can relate![]() Dave |

Re: No Rags
Expansion plugs are expensive, but I bet the plumber's bill was even more so.

Re: No Rags
It has happened to me a few times over the years but not with your results.I usually put a rag in the toilet riser while I'm working that area so the gases don't disturb the occupants and to keep tools and parts from falling down the riser, crap happens right!I find out as soon as I flush and she won't go down, bummer. Thanks for sharing!

Re: No Rags
MD, Thats funny you say that. I said the exact same thing to myself! I am seriously thinking about picking up at least a 3" and a 4" I figure I do enough remodels and stuff with open pipes to warrant it. i have always used a rag in the past, not anymore though
![]() Threader, that would be a bummer! I could just amagine I figured you plumbers could relate![]() Dave |
