Question

Kitchen Faucet Issue

Hi All,
I've got a situation here someone driving me nuts. My kitchen faucet stops running water at random. I've changed the faucet but it still happens. Thought it might be the valves; still no good. Any ideas before I pull whats left of my hair out?

Re: Kitchen Faucet Issue

I'll wager you have a bad valve/valves with a loose/broken washer that randomly relocates inside at the seat.
Depending on the age of the valve you could either replace the stems by removing the bonnet...or if they're older you may need to sweat on completely new ones in place.

Thanks for the response. I changed the valves with new 1/4 turn ball valves. Situation still there. Thought it might be the sprayer. Any ideas?

Are there shutoffs to the sink supplies in the crawl/basement? I'd look for an old gate valve.

Try this: close your water main, locate a draw off or drain at a low point (even a silcock outside if nothing else)...open the Kitchen faucet first, then open the draw-off.
I've had trouble with the old rubber washers breaking up inside the valve then getting forced into the faucet...doing this allowed the faucet to backflow the pieces out through the draw-off.
Once the draw-off has stopped draining, close the faucet, turn the water back on and flush for a few minutes through the draw-off.
