Kick Space Heaters Question...

I have a question on kick space heaters in a boiler system. The kick space heaters have 1/2 connections, the baseboards in the system are 3/4. Is it ok to reduse down to1/2 to go into the kick space heaters and then go back up to the 3/4 once you exit the kickspace heaters? Any help on this would be great. Thanks Guys.

Re: Kick Space Heaters Question...

Is this a hot water system, a single pipe steam system, or a steam system with a return?

Re: Kick Space Heaters Question...

You can reduce the pipe size, but use bell reducers instead of bushings to ease turbulence.

Re: Kick Space Heaters Question...

If it's a loop system, you might be better off coming off of it with monoflow tees to the kick heater rather than loop through it. It could be enough of a restriction to make everything after it have reduced performance if it's part of a loop.

Re: Kick Space Heaters Question...

I was planning on putting the kick space heaters at the end of each loop. Basicaly, Zone 1, from the boiler, thru the baseboards in the master bedroom, then reduce down as they enter the kick space heaters in the master bath and then back to the boiler. Same on the zone for the living room. Boiler, to the baseboards, then to the kickspace heaters and back to the boiler. As far as using bells vs bushings, im running pex, so im just planning on using the 3/4 to 1/2 pex fittings. Speaking of pex, anyone here use pro pex/ uponor?

Re: Kick Space Heaters Question...

monoflo t's off the 3/4" branch is the way to do it rather than restrict the entire system
