Question

Invoicing

just doing up some invoices for a customer
wants to pay me for the quoted work that has been completed and wants to pay me a deposit for the boiler work coming up
also are there stipulations i should be putting on my invoices beside payment required within 30 days? maybe a penalty or is this too much?

Re: Invoicing

Due upon Receipt over 30 Finance charge 1½% Per Month.
This is what I have on my invoicing. Then if someone doesn't pay for a long time you can charge interest if you don't include an amount or % you can not charge for it no matter how long it takes to get your money.

I wouldn't give them 30 days unless this is a regular client that only writes checks every 30 days or so (such as a trust fund, or fixed income person).

Net due upon receipt.

Warranty? Late fees? Where to mail the check?

Re: Invoicing

I can't remember anything I did last month. Due when I finish.
If I mail or leave an invoice behind....due upon recipt.
I removed the warranty info from this round of printed invoices. The only warranty related work is premature failure of a component. Depending on the time required...it's a freebie, if it is alot of work...TnM.

But I have never given net 30 to average HO. When I sub...yes of course, but that is a working functional relationship.

Re: Invoicing

Don't use the term "finance charges" unless you are licensed financial institution.
