Insulation Water Heater And Hot Water Lines


How much of a benefit do you see in wrapping a water heater and hot water lines that are in an unfinished basement thats exposed to some cold weather the house is in north florida low temps being in the 20's , my customer thinks there is now benefit in saving on their elec. bill .

The savings would be minimal if noticed at all.

first 6' of water lines on both sides
gives the most benefit...
unless heater is in an unconditioned space?
And I'd have no idea about the "tropics."

The heater is electric, it is already inefficient by it's design.

True, but...
Just looked at a potential job
out in the boonies.
Electric W/H, oil forced air.
They want to look at oil W/H
What can you do?
Gas service is 10 miles away!
LP is swapping one head ache
for another near as I can see.

Here, most LP co's will install an underground tank with a service contract. I was involved many of them for generators following Francis/Jeanne/Wilma.

I'm still trying to convince Ol'#2 because our water heater is past due for replacement and I want a gas oven/cooktop.

I guess you can tell who does most of the cooking here.
