Installing Bath Fixtures In Basement

I'm looking into the Zoeller Quick Jon system-a pedestal which can accomodate a toilet or other fixtures. It's height is 5 1/2".

My question is, have you seen an install where the floor was framed out so that the entire floor was 5.5" plus a subfloor (IFF possible) on top of the QJ tank? Can the QJ system handle a sink, lavatory and tub? Any other tips for advising a contrator on selling this system?

The cast iron drain (city sewer) is about 3' off the ground-but is very solid. An easy entrance would be to extend the cleanout with another wye and add on the new system at that point, but the downside is the ejector pump would have to pump to a height of 7.5'. Can .4 hp pump handle this or is the .5 pump necessary for the added height resistance?

Would love to hear your recommendations

I can give you an opinion, sawcut the concrete and put an ejector pit in.

Those Zoeller tanks have a tendency to crack, or get a screwhole through them from installing the subfloor.

Re: Installing Bath Fixtures In Basement

thanks-that's what I'm thinking is needed b/c of height issues.

I've never cut concrete out of a basement before-is there an easy way such as relief cut half way through and jack hammer or just go for the gusto and cut the whole thing out? Is there a method that creates 'less' dust? That would be the biggest issue I can see from this install.

If there is a 4" vent from the first floor out the ceiling-is it w/in code (generally speaking) to tap into that or must it be a straight shot w/out to many bends present?

My concrete saw has a water attachment, it's a mess anyway you look at it, but slurry is easier to clean than dust, and I through cut floors.

I don't know code in your area, but here you can can vent the ejector pit in 2", and tie the W/C, lav, and tub vents into that, the number of fittings makes no difference as long as the vent is not trapped.

I agree, not to mention the cost offset isn't worthwhile.
Sewage ejector is the best longterm solution.
