I Got One For You!
Went to look at house that cought on fire. Needs completetly re plumbed. Of course after re construction is done. But in the master bathroom The previous plumber took water from the spout side of the valve looped it twice before hooking it up to the shower wing ell and capped off the showers outlet. (This is a shower only) How much water pressure you think he would gain by doing it that way? The valve wasn't hung up side down either it was done on purpose.

Re: I Got One For You!
So if I understand this right, this moron took the shower valve riser....and made 2 loops? Like with streets and ells? So it's a riser...a tee than a few loops than a tee back to the riser? Dude, you gotta take a picture of that.
To answer your question...zero PSI gain. However, each turn will reduce pressure!!

Re: I Got One For You!
Sounds like he capped the showerhead riser and looped the tub spout around and up for the head. That's what smoking crack does man.

Re: I Got One For You!
Know how the tub/shower (Delta valve) how we usually hang it? The shower area is 60x60 when you first enter the shower area there is 2 shower valves 1 ft in from door entrance one is about 48" of floor the other is 12" above it. the one on the bottom controled the shower head by the door entrance. (They used wirsbo pex from the spout outlet made 2 loops between the studs to the shower head.) The valve on top controled another shower head on the other side of the shower area. (He supplied that shower head from the tub spout outlet as well.) I hope I explain this better. I didn't have my phone on me at the time or I would of tooken a picture of that circus pipe.(If I get the job, I will take a picture of it before I take it down and set it up right.) I don't use that wirsbo pump pex.
![]() This was a new house that only made it to drywall stage. The house was struck by lighting and burned pretty well. They had to replace several floor joist and floor decking.

Oh..ok, I got it now:
Quote:
As for the loop supplying the head.....2 guesses, one is that the guy didn't have a means to simply cut the pex, so he used whatever piece he brought tothe job, the other is he was accounting for expansion. one loop within a channel is not common, but I have read about that. 2 loops is.....odd to say the least. Having the loops would not have a noticeable impact on pressure. Sounds like a rookie or GC did the plumbing!!

Re: I Got One For You!
Not enough expansion in 3' of PEX to matter. That doesn't mean he wasn't trying to accommodate expansion though.
