Hydro Air Coil

Hi guys this is my first post ,i recently had a 5 ton air handler installed with a hydro coil ,my problem is i am not sure what size pipe to run to it .I plan on running a fosta pex to it .Now the unit has a 3/4 inch stub out of it but the boiler is 50 feet away .The only thing i know is the coil in the handler is rated for up to 110 thousand btu,so i am not sure if there is a certain size pipe to accommadate that or what .

p.s. dont worry i have a plumber coming by for the final connections ,i am just trying to save some money and run it my self

Re: Hydro Air Coil

For that distance, you don't really upsize the pipe. You do insulate it well.

Consequently, it's normal to have the circulator start or the zone valve open for that coil's zone well before the blower in the air handler starts. This keeps you from getting a several minute blast of cool air. There are several ways to accomplish this delay. This has nothing to do with your original question, but it is a typical obstacle to overcome that I felt I should point out if you havn't already addressed it in some way.

Re: Hydro Air Coil

Thanx ,i Already Have That Covered ,i Am Using A Taco Hydro Air Fan Relay ,and Will Have It On A Two Minute Delay .so Back To My Original Question ,i Dont Need To Bring A Certain Amount Of Water To That Coil To Achieve My Desired Btu Output?also The Air Handler Is In An Unfinished Attic .i Was Wondering What Is Involved In Adding Glycol To The System Just For Some Added Security ?

So far, you havn't stated how many BTU's you need from that zone. Are you thinking that the circulator you have selected for that zone won't flow enough? What's the spec's on the coil say it needs in terms of flow?

Re: Hydro Air Coil

THE 5 TON NEEDS ABOUT 60 ,000 BTU ,THE AIR HANDLER HAAS 3/4" stub out on the unit
