How To Vent This

How would you run the vent and waste lines on this job I'm doing on my own house?
Just downloaded some pic from my camera I took this afternoon of this job.
Maybe someone here can tell me how I might run my waste lines and vent this.
Where I cut open the wall on the left is in the shower stall I'm framing today. The floor joists under the shower to be.. are running right to left unlike the TJI's and its open and I have the joists only screwed in right now so I can move em' around (total access there and any heights I need to go up and down as well).Where the cut out is, is where I wanna run my main waste line down to the basement from the second floor in the picture. The waste lines will come from below the floor naturally. The cut out is for my hot and cold supply lines...which I will feed to the wide opening directly over the stairs.
Where those pieces of 2x are in the back is my access for anything I want. (My stack through the roof)And yes...its a big space I'll use for storage later on)
Between my drill and level up aganst the rear plate I have down is where my toilets going...to the right in that space (not dead center) and directly opposite that closest to you in the pic is where my sink is going.

I also have the floor cut out where the toilets going in front and behind that dividing wall. All I have to do is lift the Advantech up.
There's two pictures below...
I framed the floor with 16" TJI's and plan to cut the webbing using my RotoZip being I have the joists so close together. I should only have about 4 joists to cut through the webbing. I spose' I'll have to cut pieces and couple them all together.

OK...anyone willing to take a stab at this?

Why not shoot up threw the roof in the knee wall next to the crapper?

Yeh I know...I just wanted a more detailed idea how to do the drain/vents to the whole deal.

>>>Why not shoot up threw the roof in the knee wall next to the crapper?>>>

DAT much I figured out myself...lol.
There's a whole venting system..I do habe a cpl a decent books on it but being I have to run most all of the vents and rains inthe floor I need some full time plumbers advice. I kinda, sorta know how its spose' to be done but kinda, sorta usually means I;m gonna F something up somewhere along the way...lol

Any info I can give will not be your code there, NY has some restrictions I'm not aware of.

Are you getting permits?

Its amazing what is and isn't to code around here.
They changed the codes for the shower pans now and you HAVE TO use lead pans. How antiquated is that? You'd think it'd be tyhe opposite being lead rusts out vs rubber mats
And those speedy vents as I call them for sinks I think are allowed now not that I'd even wanna use them unless i had to.

Re: How To Vent This

I did the first bathroom here and it passed inspection but there was an attic over it and all the fixtures were on the same wall so the venting and the waste lines were a breeze to figure out..this bathroom is another story..ugh

Re: How To Vent This

This is a idea, I'm not there to see the entire picture but this is what I come up with. This is based on UPC Oregon Admendments.

ABS or PVC, water line to be PEX, Vents through the roof if possible,

Hope is was ok to alter your picture, for I did not ask for your permission.

Where is the header for your bathroom door?

The shower pan must be a downstate thing. We can't even buy lead pans upstate. And the speedy vents, it's only one style that's approved. The "Studor" vent. All other speedy vents are not approved.

Re: How To Vent This

Thanks mucho Ron...course its Ok to alter my pic..thats why I posted it.
Thing is..being the toilet is on the rear wall does it make sense to come up w/the vent through the roof that way? Or is your pic w/the vents coming up over the sink AND over the toilet coming out of the roof in TWO places? I was kinda thinking that myself but was trying to avoid that if possible but I'll do what I gotsta do.
And a 3" vent for the toilet is fine, right? Only reason I brought up a 4" vent was b/c I thought I might be able to get all three fixtures vented out in one place (behind the toilet).

QW...yeh,,,,here too. The "Studor" vents are the only ones approved and just came out actually around here not all that long ago.
Blackman plumbing is our main supplier of plumbing parts and even they used to have to order it...not that I do so much plumbing at all.
And yeh...real weird about the lead pans.. I still have half a roll from when the plumbers did my main bathroom a few years ago. That craps wayyyyyy heavy...whewwwwwww. No wonder they say it sinks like a lead baloon...lol...duh

Re: How To Vent This

I have two vents out the roof, one in wall of toilet and one in wall of sink.

3" vent is fine.

Re: How To Vent This

Oh yeh...Ron...I plan on doing my own baseboard heat up in that entire area as well as the bathroom and planned on using PEX for the first time.
Seems simple enough..what doesn't if you've already done it. I was looking on Ebay for an expander tool. Loks like they could be had for about a hundred bucks or so w/the three different size heads but would I be better off using a crimper or in the long run is that more of a hassle and $$$$?

Re: How To Vent This

I use the crimper style, will go faster and the crimper could cost just the same if found on EBay. Going crimper way, you can have water back on in no time, with expansion tool you wound have to wait abit longer for seal to take grip.

Re: How To Vent This

I don't think that bathroom ceiling makes it legal to use as a bathroom.

Check out IRC R305.1 Exception 4, related to bathroom ceiling height.

Re: How To Vent This

Not sure what you mean at all but there's an existing bathroom in this house with the "exact" same dimensions ceilings and all I'm doing now.
Why would ceiling heights make a differance? Ceiling height in half of this bathroom are 6' then slopes down to about 5'+over where the toilet tank will be which is the lowest height in the room
Thanks
andy

Re: How To Vent This

Are the connectors more expensive using the crimper or about the same? And are they just as good? Why would one use one or the other? Just curious being I never did either.
Any good links to show the process you know of?
Thanks mucho
andy

About the same, just as good IMO, ease of installation in most part. Just do a Google search for Pex Pipe Installation Procedures, sure that will bring up plenty of in.

Re: How To Vent This

Hey Ron..you don't think there's a way I can run one single vent from the toilet area?
Reason I ask is b/c its gonna be a major pain to run one from over the sink not that it can't be done. I roofed this house with wood shingles and you know what thats like to deal with and I'll have to cut a big hole in the ceiling so I can reach the roof from the sink area vs the toilet area that is the roof basically.
I spose I could use one of those under the sink vents too but I probably wouldn't.
Anyway...thanks again
andy

R305.1 MINIMUM HEIGHT. Habitable rooms, hallways, corridors, bathrooms, toilet rooms, laundry rooms and basements shall have a ceiling height of not less than 7 feet. The required height shall be measured from the finish floor to the lowest projection from the ceiling.
Exceptions:
.
.
.
4. Bathrooms shall have a minimum ceiling height of 6 feet 8 inches over the fixture and at the front clearance of the fixtures....

Maybe it doesn't apply to you, but just a head's up in case it does, assuming you're having inspections.
