How To Get A Raise From Your A Hole Boss!

First you have to be a damn good plumber for this to work with these arogant pricks.

1- Ask for a raise. The jerk will say I can't right now , things are tough right now, or he will come up with some lame mistake you made back in 1999.

2- Quit, tell the jerk to take the job and shove it up his plumbers crack, then leave without looking back

3- go home

4- soon the phone will ring and the prick will call and ask to meet

5- have the meeting, make your demands, he will say okay, shake his hand

6- return to work the next day and keep up your good work untill it is time for the next cost of living raise the greedy slob does not want to give.

I used this for decades with different aholes and it worked like a champ.

I wouldn't put up with an employee like you anyway. I't's funny how you don't understand what costs are involved in running your own business. I have a guy that was just like you until I showed him my books. Insurance, workers comp, tool costs, he hasn't said a word since. If you were of any value at all to a contractor you would have probably seen those raises without saying a word. I give when I can and the guys know it.

Come approach me like that and ask for a raise. The only raise you would get would be your eyebrows raising after i told you to get lost. Your procedures are disrespectfull, and unprofessional. How many jobs have you been thru making $13 an hour?

"Arrogant pricks?" Yeah, I am, but don't confuse arrogant with ignorant.

What do you do when you tell the boss your leaving (as your plan says) and your boss says "ok see ya" Are you going to have another post that outlines how to find another job??

Sadly this isnt the market you can be doing this sorta thing in. Workers right now are like leaves in the fall, they're everywhere.

Sounds like this OP should be in the DYI section,or there should be another section for disgruntled employees.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, leave the keys to the van with dispatch and btw we don't allow taxi pick up the property.

This is the same guy that wants to teach everyone east of the Rockies
how to frame and rough-in a house.
Amazing that we ever built anything without him.
Now he can reform the entire labor/management arrangement as well.

Try to help a guy out, give him food, a job, place to stay, try to instill some self respect, BTDT, this is the thanks you get.

Most of my reply has been mentioned.
1st off the ethics, morals, and respect would get a raise but the reason is that you proved none of the above to get one. Think about it.

I will tell my employees that if they aren't happy that the REMODLER Knows more about the plumbings bussiness than me and let him help you find the next job.

I also believe that this is the same guy that said us east coast plumbers have our rough-in process wrong.

This is one of those guys that is a jack of all and master of nothing.

I think he joined this site so that we would respond to him because on the job site ( his couch ) he's lonely.

Nothing wrong with asking for a raise.

Any guy that says

Is going to get the same answer.

Why? What's in it for me?

If the employee can tell me logically why he wants a raise and what's in it for me logically, then he's either gonna get one for bringing to my attention that he deserves one already or we are going to sit down and figure out a plan that allows him to get that raise over the course of a set time with set bench marks to meet. I love the opportunity that comes up when an employee brings up this subject. It's a great time to talk about things and see where his head is and where he fits in and where we are going.

But on the other hand, you're way is really good too.

I would tell you to sit on a floor jack and pump the handle, you'll get a raise.
