Question

Hot Water Gets Really Hot When Someone Flushes The Toilet.

Ever since we moved into this house. We have noticed a few issues. Most of them I have resolved. I am down to my last few.

For some reason. If someone is taking a hot shower, anything else in the house that requires water is turn on. We get a really HOT shower. I am guessing this has to do with line size.

Background
house built in 1986
on its own well
expansion tank seems small. Then again I am not a plumber.
Hot water heater is rather large, and works well. Water pressure at the water tank is 60 psi at the highest. and falls to around 40 or a little better when the well is turned on.
All the plumbing is very centralized in the home.

Is their anything that can help this out.

Maybe a new shower diverter that has an anti - scolding protection .

I'll give my 2 cents until Ron the Plumber comes in and clears this up. I lived at a place with low water pressure and we had the same issue. My present house has good water pressure and we do not have an issue, run all the faucets and flush without messing with the shower.

md's right. I'm on a well and experience the same symptoms. Getting used to it is much easier than fixing it.

Replace the shower valve with a new pressure balanced one, like a Moen Posi Temp for example, good luck.

Kohler makes some too. (my husband told me that those are code now??? I thought that was kind of funny.)

Ditto

Pressure Balance or Posi-Temp are requried by code, one other thing you can do if you have access to the pipes below and don't want to replace the valve, there is a inline Pressure Balancing Spool you can get has two ins and two outs, this will fix that problem.

Other thing to do is don't use other fixtures when taking a shower
