Guarantee Your Work, How Long?
I'm just starting my plumbing business and I have a question: How long do you all guarantee your work, and why?
thanks |

Re: Guarantee Your Work, How Long?
I'm a sparky, and I do one year. Reason... hmm... don't know. Just seems to be what most other guys do. Plus, that's about how long the manufacturer's warranty is on most of the crap I install. Warranty does not cover labor, unless it was my fault somehow. I'm pretty sure I could offer a 10 year guarantee and have about the same number of warranty calls. My preferred panel and breaker brand (Cutler Hammer) has a lifetime guarantee.

Re: Guarantee Your Work, How Long?
My labor is lifetime. I do however let everyone know that does not mean material failure. If something breaks that I installed, I will come out and take a look. 99% of the time it is a material failure. If so, the service call is now needing payment. If it is my fault I just fix it and all is well.
I do this because I am selling myself to the customer, not the work I am doing. There is a big difference |

Re: Guarantee Your Work, How Long?
Okay thanks for your input. This is the first draft of my official warranty. I want it to be as explicit as possible. What do you think? Any feedback would be appreciated.
"Penguin Plumbing imparts a lifetime limited warranty to the labor described within the signed contract. Labor includes problems with any work contracted and performed by Penguin Plumbing. Any defects with the product itself must be handled by the customer through the manufacturer. The warranty excludes any problems with pre-existing piping and fixtures or any plumbing work not contracted by Penguin Plumbing. If Penguin Plumbing is called back to repair material defects (be it to the installed product or to the original plumbing) there will be a service charge." thanks josh Last edited by lintjosh; 12-27-2006 at 02:16 PM. Re: Guarantee Your Work, How Long?
It's replacement/ repair at your discretion
excludes Owner's neglect Owner is required to file notice of concern, allow (contractor)to address the concern binding arbitration is accepted by both parties, should a conflict ever arise... These are a few from my notes that might help your thoughts... ~Matt |
