Flex Plumbing?

Hey guys,

I was just in Oklahoma not too long ago and I saw a plumber doing all the hot and cold lines with a clear tubing flex line. Apparently this is the way they do things there (which I had never seen before) and it's to code.
He said the tubes don't burst when they freeze and it's a lot faster than sweating pipes.

I'd like to learn how to do this cause, I'm buying a house there and fixing it up myself. I'm a pretty good plumber just don't know about this stuff.
I can't seem to find any info online.

You have to be certified in uphonor number one,or you have no warranties ,number two ,you must have a PLUMBING CONTRACTORS license to do the work you're proposing in this state,GC won't cut it.Your on a forum now with folks who like to play by the rules.

Re: Flex Plumbing?

He might be in a state where a owner is allowed to do his own plumbing, if so I don't have a problem with him doing his own work, but if he does it as part of his business and not licensed then yes I do have a problem with that.

Re: Flex Plumbing?

The only person who can legally touch anything in any distribution system is a LIC.PLUMBER ,in Oklahoma.Homeowners can legally do most accessible repairs like faucets,toilets,hose-bibs etc. A homeowner cannot pull any type of PLUMBING/MECH/ELEC. permits, nor can a GC.,and never touch anything with Gas except for flex lines.I'm calmer now.

Re: Flex Plumbing?

Sounds like novicepro picked the wrong forum to start out in.

Sorry novicepro but the plumber from OK has spoken, he knows who you are now, and he'll be looking for you, best think twice about what your wanting to do.

It was localized, not all states were affected, the issues on the fitting were resolved, there no longer a risk, and are now perfectly safe for use.
