EcoSmart Tankless

Any of you guys have experience with these things?

A new plumber I am using has recommended one instead of a gas-fired tankless.

Says they have come a long way recently in terms of efficiency.

2,500sq.ft. home.
2 full baths

Thanks,
Jonathan

Re: EcoSmart Tankless

Price of gas versus electricity? Any other gas appliances? How much is it used? Already have electric run there - correct wire & breaker / any room in panel? What temp rise can it handle compared to your water temp during winter?

Those are just a few questions to think about before ever considering manufacturer & no sorry I haven't used one / based on where I live would probably never recommend one

Gas supply is LP.

4 fireplaces, cooktop, and HVAC on it already.
(Previous water heater was too.)

Retired younger couple.....no kids at home....guests occasionally.

Panel is 6 feet away from proposed location.
Plenty of room in the panel for it.

Southwestern Virginia.......temp rise isn't that steep.

This gives me pause as is the supply line coming in from tank & to the unit itself adequate to convert to a gas tankless if they wanted "endless." Generally when they have multiple appliances connected it isn't worth changing out unless they want all electric. Now if just the water heater was... (though being on LP saves you the gas companies monthly charge for the privilege of having them)

Meaningless, you got to consider actual usage - i.e. lots of hot long showers (showers when waking / after golf / working out / before dinner), like taking baths in a 75+ gallon tub - how often, etc... Do they have 5 gpm showerheads (or system) or 1.5... Do they do multiple items at once - wash clothes in hot water while running dishwasher?

Another question, why do they want to switch - they run out of water, want some space back, or...
