drain cleaning

I am a septic contractor no suprise seeing my log in name lol
I am wanting to add power snaking to my services. I have operated cable machines maybe 8 times tops. It sounds crazy but ive put many a sewer line in but never cleaned them for customes. Bought a jetter a yr ago been cleaning field nines sometimes (not rocket science) heres my questions
What things can educate me further?
what trick can be employed to free a stuck cable?
are there drain cleaning courses anywhere?

The winter can get slow and if I can get this together it will keep me occupied

please no wisecracks. Worse case i can always get someone with exp on my payroll and watch him a few months. But thats not my wishes rather do my own thing.

current equip owned
3/4" cable machine
3- jetters
camera

what should I add?
lol I know experience
said it before you!!!! thanks for the help!

For the low cost of $10,000 and one week of your time you to can herd turds like the Roto Rooter Man next door. We have a hands on class that will show you every thing you need to know like:
1`Don't have any thing in your pockets while working on a septic tank.
2` How to hook your truck to a stuck cable
3` How to use one hand to cut a wound cable off your other hand and from around your neck.
3` How to fall from a roof like a Hollywood Stunt Man
4` How to explain to an irate home owner that he needs a new sewer and there`s nothing you can to about it as you have already lost half a day trying to clean his broken line.
5` How to explain to a home owner that just because you took the time to take his call you are on another job and he`ll have to wait till you are done before you can show up.
6` how to have $^&* splattered on your face and still keep a smile

The list goes on and on in our one week class of "How To Turd Heard Like A Pro", so as you can see you get a lot for that low price.

OH THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT HOPE YOUR INSURANCE IS PAID UPSo your implying that my current profession has not near the dangers?
everything from precasting with 1050 cores swinging overhead to setting tanks or working down trenches 12ft? installing sewer line not to mention small things like jetting with the fecal matter, pathogens from god knows how many infected people? I guess I just dont have the brass balls or intelligence to operate a cable rotflmao quit smoking so much wacky weed and your cable wont wrap around your neck! it seems to have deprived some oxygen lol rotflmao hahahahahahaha
happy turd hunting ive put in probably 25,000 septic systems half repairs had my arm up more anuses than a proctologist! turds? you say? there my specialty! yesterdays meals on wheels

Might want to add a couple smaller machines. My small machines are a Spartan 100, 502, and 81. My big boy is the Spartan 2001.
I am planning in the future to get a trailer jetter and a portable(?).

God Bless,

Cobra 90020 Sink Machine
Cobra 90040 3/8" X 100

Thats a small list of what you will need to get started. I have a lot of other stuff but that`s a list of what I have to have every day.

Oh and forget about having a life because you`ll be to busy working all the time and you`ll have to close your other business because you will be in the sewers all the time.

Thanks al the sewer guy. Dont you ever worry about viruses and disease like hepatitus? I know I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the people who complain about the price after I have fixed a distribution box that was sogged down in effluent, dingleberries and god knows what. I have heard of many mishaps over the years guys getting killed by septic tanks while setting them and many occupational hazards. I can see that comming what scares me is what you cant see comming! I know ive been splashed and when you think about it how many people took a bigone down the toilet over the past year and I just got cristened with it. Scary to think what people in this business are subjected to!

That's why I use the Ridgid K-7500 it has auto feed and most of the time it`s hands free. I use latex gloves inside my work gloves. The key is, try to keep everything clean and wash your hands all the time. I try not to think of the unknown but like today I was standing in a nasty mess and that my friend is not worth any amount of money. The stuff we have to put up with is just unreal and most people couldn't do it but they sure want to bitch about paying $70.00 an hour for something they wouldnt do for $1000.00 an hour

ACS, You are absolutely right. People are like that. I usually got through about how dangerous this can be and what people can pick up and then they are generally happy I am there.

There is a guide on the Spartan site that has alot of good information in it about disease and drain cleaning. Good stuff.
