How do you dig your trenches or whatever digging you have to do on the job?

Re: Digging

Are you seriously asking how to dig a trench?

......very carefully.

Re: Digging

I guess it depends on what size trench....

Both of these will do the job, one just makes it a little easier.....

I was told you couldn't put an excavator on the job site of a house.

Instead of a shovel can you use a "ditch witch" or something like that?

Re: Digging

shovel...pick....spud bar....chipping hammer

i used a mini excavator many times on residential and commercial...if the job is big enough then its worth it....

besides that its all manual labor

Gee, I hate to think that dayexco, jmic, and the other excavating contractors have been breaking the law all these years...

Where did you hear that pyro... Just curious.

Maybe if you would go into a little more detail as to what you want to do as far as digging the trench. Is it in a building? Outside? How deep and how wide and how long? What for? Do you have to hold a grade? Sure you can use a Ditch Witch for digging a trench, if that is what the job calls for. I have used mini-excavators, 30,000lb excavators, 16hp trenchers, and shovels. All useful tools, but not interchangeable.

Re: Digging

I make them dig my trenches with a backhoe. I like my trenches atleast 2 feet wide so I can get in the trench with the pipe and make sure I have grade. I also make them dig it a few inches deeper. Id rather throw dirt in to bring it up then dig it out cause it is too high.
