Difference In Plumbing Up North Vs. South

hey guys im a plumbers helper here in Florida and will be moving to NYC to be close to my Fiance. I have about a years experience in the trade but i imagine that plumbing up in NYC is alot different than in FL(cast iron pipeing vs. pvc and cpvc, high rises, HVAC!?!?!). I can Install shower valves and pans, do anything with a toilet and flange, solder, Anything with a water heater, install and repair any type of fixture or sink..etc...basically service plumbing or jobbing. never done new construction. so my question is how much different is it going to be up north? am i going to have trouble finding a job? am i gonna get hired and them realize i dont know what to do with a cast iron pipe and get fired? What would the pay be for someone in my shoes? i am currently making $10/Hr and have my own company van. ANY help would be MUCH appreciated!!!

You should make more money. Frost and some stricter codes will be of some concern. They will love your attitude. I'd go back in business if I had guys asking the same questions you do. Post some wedding pics. Post some pics after you make your first mil. Next year.

Be sure to buy a few new sweat shirts, as for the business I know that Mass codes are quite a bit deff than the Fla codes as my Dad lives down there, he operated our business up here for 40+ years and was suprised by the way things are done from the 2.
Yea we still do a lot of cast in the comm field, but most resi is PVC and now a days PEX is becomming the new designer pipe.
Not real sure about the pay in NY but starting around here is about what you are makeing now.
