Code For Toilets.
I always thought that the toilet had to be 12" from any other fixture and it was code, however another contractor says that is convention and that there really is no code.
Anyone know for sure, or could it vary by jurisdiction? I just presumed that the UPC was followed everywhere for mundane stuff like that. Rich |

Re: Code For Toilets.
I don't think that there is a code figure for the distance to the wall.
The standard is seems to be 12" (or at least the most common), but 15" units are also available, but not as common. There also different heights. The slightly higher units (similar to European toilets) are becoming more common. Dick |

Re: Code For Toilets.
The space has to be 30" wide. It has to be 15"from center of flange, with 21" in front.

Re: Code For Toilets.
Now how many bathrooms have you been in that are 30 sq/ft....and the toilet is set within a few inches of the bathtub? I haven't done one this way, but many of the 30 year old construction around here has baths that are laid out like this.....we usually try to go for more then 15 inches anyway...just like in my own construction, I install 3/0 interior doors....you never know if someone may grow old in the home.

Re: Code For Toilets.
In rough the space accordingly to the specs of said fixtures, and never go less the what code requires.
