Calcium And Lime In Only Cold Side One Bathroom Only

I recently went to a job where there was no water in only the master bath upstairs, and only on the cold side. After eliminating every other possibility, without success, I finally took off the angle stop for the commode and found that the copper stub out was completely clogged with calcium and lime, and then I found that all the stubouts were the same, and so was the supply to the shower valve, but only on the cold side. I ended up with about four inches of calcium and lime in my shop vac, but solved the problem, but I was called back about three months later for the same problem. Can anyone tell me why this would happen, and why only in the cold side master bath upstairs?

Can't tell ya why it's only upstairs and not down, but it's probably only in the cold side because the lime and calcium settles out of the hot side in the water heater and never makes it to the lines.

that's true, but the limescale is dissolved in our water, and usually only solidifies to the point of being capable of filling four inches of a shopvac IN the water heater. In the cold side, it isn't being cooked out of the water, so it only really shows up as scale on your faucets and particles in your aerator. This came out of the lines looking like I had just sucked it out of a water heater. Picture that much solid calcium and lime in half inch copper lines and cold. That is a ton!!!

Hadn't thought of it that way around...in that case...I'm at as much of a loss as you are. Hopefully one of the plumbers can help more than I did

Must be a house with a well right? How close is the water tank in relation to these baths?
