ABS plastic? Or cast iron? Both are black. For ABS, a hand saw or a hack saw or a sawzall. For cast iron, a cast iron "snapper" tool or a grit blade in a sawzall. To plug the line temporarily, use an expansion plug or test plug. Two different names for the same basic thing.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm really puzzled why a painter is doing plumbing? Tsk, tsk.

Because nobody else did. Simple as that.

Do you have some special issue with the technical accuracy of my answer, or are you on the sauce tonight and felt like you needed to make some comment like that to stir the pot? Stick around, and you'll find that I'm much more than an electrician. I'm also a fat-headed know it all.

Actually I was just kidding, I have seen quite a few of your answers on other posts & noticed you seem well educated in the plumbing field (for an electrician)

Is this pipe running under the slab? I hope it isn't old orangeburg, if so, get rid of it or reroute your new piping and abandon it.
