Average Work Week And Payment Structure

How does your company pay you or how does your company work? I am just curious what is the average hour you put in a work week in plumbing and also is it commision or hourly. Also, do you own your own truck or is it provided.

We're union, paid hourly, anything over 8 hours in a day has to be payed at time and a half, including any time worked on a Saturday. I own my truck, I get paid to use it for work.

Thats one hell of an open ended question!
There's utterly no structure or standard, it's the same as any job, each shop pays the way it wants to.
Most pay Fridays, some on Thursday, heck I know one that pays on monday based on the theory there'll be fewer sick "call-ins", which works well, except on Tuesdays.

Contractors around here play a lot of games with payday, our contract stipulates that an employee must be paid within two business days of the end of the work week. My boss keeps it simple, the work week ends on Wednesday and you get your check on Friday, and we usually try and have new employees start on Thursday, so that their first check is a full 40 check.
