Are you installing the Zurn ones with the Sloan valve set-up, or the continuous rinse units that many manufacturers make?

If they are Asian made have fun with the metric outlet sizes.

Don't toilets in a public building need an NSF seal to be acceptable?

That is a very easy variance to get for a cultural or religious application.

Ah, I suppose it would be.

Say, did I ever mention about the time I washed my hands in the "wrong sink" in a jewish temple? Oh boy, did the gefelte fish really hit the fan. The rabbi made it sound like I was going to be struck down by lightning right then and there. Aparently, they have to do some sort of cleansing ceremony since I defiled the sink or whatever when I washed my hands in it.

You'll figure something out that works. Just about every fixture I rough or trim has dimensions given in millimeters, you adapt and overcome.

I'm still a newbie, 18 years at this trade, I'll probably stick with it.

Re: Asian Squatter Toilets

I googled that there squatter toilet and at first glance it seems to really suck. It's a rim wash only? No toilet paper down it?

Imagine fat-arsed Americans doing the squat--half of them wouldn't be able to get back up.

They are supposed to have a bidet installed next to them, but I have seen a hose bib fed from a mixing valve substituted.

These ones you talk about sound much better than the holes in the ground I had to deal with in the outskirts of Hong Kong a couple of years ago.

Holes in the ground.. with tile all around it. Couple of times a day some guy would come in with a hose and 'clean' them.

Many years ago when I worked in textile, I used a sink for a urinal. Big half round like thing with a bar going around it and the bottom. Step on the bottom bar and the top bar would shoot streams of water into it. I thought this was a flushing action. Seems like I remember seeing urinal troughs similar to this in my youth, but they weren't curved. That and the height of it is what threw me off I guess. Anyway, they didn't keep it long. I suspect I was not the only one to get confused.

HA! Yeah, that's the style of sink that many factories have. Lets the guys all gather round and wash up their hands at the same time. It's funny that you took a leak in one.

Re: Asian Squatter Toilets

I worked with Muslims a while ago and they had rigged a rinse hose from a kitchen sink for personal cleansing.

Clean with the left, eat with the right. This also fits into their justic system; cutting off a hand for certain offenses. When you have to eat and clean with the same hand, you are considered 'unclean' and are shunned.

I used to work for them too. We installed kitchen sprayers for the personal cleaning and small tower stands next to it, They used water and towels not papper towels for cleaning.

I did something similar, while doing a kitchen at a Jewish persons house years ago, I mixed up the silverware and dishes, apparently that to is a big no-no, I thought the lady was actually going to hit me, she was P.O.'d.
