Alternative Water Softening?
Greetings.
Customers have asked about water softeners that don't use salt or potassium but use electric current to modify the calcium molecules so they form less scale, such as Scale Ban and others. Do they work? |

The problem is energy, not cheap to operate. I believe it works on the same principle as electroplating...impurities are drawn from the water to a cathode. |

Re: Alternative Water Softening?
I have talked to a guy at our company recently in regards to the new systems that use a catalytic process to change the hardness in the water (not magnets). He is very technical when it comes to water and water quality. He recommends staying away from magnets for water treatment and I tend to agree. He has numerous articles to back up his belief. I just didn't care to read them.
But, there are newer catalytic type systems that do not use salt that are effective. It looks just like a regular salt water softener without the salt tank. I guess we have already installed a few at our company. We get them from a local supplier that gets us our salt softeners. I will find out the name a post the info. I hope this helps, J |

Check out Zeta Rod Conditioners
I've installed about 35 of these over the past 3 years and all of customers have expressed they are getting the results they had hoped for. I was sceptical at first, but after reading much more than the company sales hype about this type of product, I was sold. Requires no maintenance and uses very little electricity.
