ALL N.Y.S Plumbers Important

To all New York State Plumbers
I've read many time on this (wonderful site) contractors complaining about bld. codes, how stupid they are. Well here is your chance to
make your thoughts heard .There is a bill proposed which would prohibit plastic pipe to be used in certain applications. You would have to use cast iron, remember cast iron

Contactor your Senator .....

June 22, 2006

Dear Senator :

I am writing to express my strong opposition to S.5046A which relates to standards for plumbing materials, more specifically it prohibit the use of plastic pipe for construction in certain applications.

The New York State Building Officials Conference (NYSBOC) is a membership association comprised of code enforcement officials throughout the state dedicated to promoting public safety through the enforcement of building and fire codes in new and existing structures. NYSBOC members are strongly opposed to legislation which attempts to shift the power from the statutory body created by the Legislature to make changes to the code. This body is called the State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council comprised of seventeen members representing code and fire officials, labor, designers, builders and state agencies.

Therefore, I along with our 2500 (or whatever it is) members in New York urge you to oppose S.5046A and stop its potential passage. Thank you for your assistance in this important matter. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can provide you with any additional information. I can be reached at

Very truly yours,
