Look at the beam running across these pics. That is a load carrying beam made up originally of 3 sistered 2x12's with a lolly column in the center breaking up the flow of the basement.

I attached 2~ 1/4" x 12" steel plates to each side of the beam (4 total) and then pulled the lolly column. Its been a year and no sag

Looks nice and tight, nice job. Why greenboard everywhere? Was it just extra from another job? Is this a silly question? I just thought it would be more $$$$ for a dry space.

Funny thing about that. Customer wanted it becaue of a damp basement problem. Figuring it would be less supceptable to Mold. I had just finished this when they came out with that Paperless Sheetrock for just this purpose.

Anyone try that paperless sheetrock yet? They just started stocking it in our area this week. Running $1.40 more per 4x8 sheet.

Digger, I just hung and finished a bathroom with it. It's nice and smooth like regulart drywall. No "bumpy" texture like the green board. When you put a knife to it, it will feel a hair more "coarse" than regular drywall. It is sweet .
