One hour rated wall

Any drywall contractors out there? I have a question about a one hour separation wall. Can you get a one hour rated wall with bar joists passing thru the top of the wall @ 24in. centers by piecing in around the joists and fire taping it up really tight. The wall is 3 5/8 metal studs with 5/8 both sides. Thanks, Mike

One hour rating can vary a lot so it's best to contact either the architect or the local building inspector.

These days they make chaulk or stuff and spray around those pentrations. thats why the ul manual has head of wall and pentrations in them. fire tape is the past and is no longer accepted in the states that i have worked in. some companies sent the inspector to free class to show them how it should be done.
