Levelcoat
Has anyone tried a spray on product from magnum called Levelcoat? It is sprayed on with an airless and goes on smooth to eliminate joint flashing on high visibility walls.

Re: Levelcoat
Yes, we use Levelcoat all the time. Had to purchase a new sprayer to handle it. Well worth the investment. Smooth as silk when we finish.

Re: Levelcoat
Question, why not just spray a skim coat of mud? I have a machine large enough to spray either Levelcoat or compound and just want to know how much nicer the Levelcoat works.

Re: Levelcoat
We've used SW prepcoat over taping, before texture.
It works. r |

Re: Levelcoat
I have seen the results (impressive) I do know that that product requires a large airless to transfer it to the surface. Large also meaning expensive airless.

It has great flow properties too, you could probably throw it on the wall with your hand and it will flow out smooth. jdl |

Re: Levelcoat
I try to convince people to texture their walls and ceilings, thus eliminating the third or polish coat!! On the other hand if you can convince people to pay for this application, I would recommend it. For smaller jobs, I have thinned out compound and used a sprayer then simply wiped it down, it is pretty quick and can give you some extra$$$!! great post!!

Re: LevelcoatQuote:
I've seen the product in our drywall supply co. here in W. MI but "old skool" is the way I go too - I just use a topping thinned down to the consistency of skimcoat mud and an 18" roller to apply a thin coat then wipe with a 16" plastering trowel for a glass smooth finish! The whole process is very quick - it helps to apply a good coat of quality primer after skimming too Last edited by Carpenter Wayne; 01-13-2010 at 10:42 PM. |
