Drywall rates
Ok, guys, you have helped out before and I need alittle more help. I have two rooms that someone wants the ceilings overlayed with 1/2" drywall. These are now covered in plaster and are 9' high. One room is 10' x 12' and the other is 14' x 16'. It will be me and a helper to get this done. I have hung drywall before in my own house, but don't really know what the going price is. We will be hanging and finishing the ceilings. I will be purchasing all materials to do this. What would be a good price to charge for this job. There is a ceiling lights in both rooms that would have to also come down. Also, do you mark-up the supplies?? Thanks for the help........

Take your material price and multiply it by the square root of your age.
divide that that then, by the month (april - 4 for example) of your first born.
take that number and multiply it by 3.
It's the standard rate.

That sounds a little high to me.
Wish I could charge those rates.

For this job, I will fly out to Bowling Green and help you hang for $1,500 plus air travel. Vacationing in Ohio doing drywall can be a fun experience...

Yes i just looked at your inquiry,im in maine and i figured for 10x12 room ceiling included=13 10 fters
14x16 room=17-12s
thats 30 boards,i charge $35 a board to hang tape and finish, thats $1050 to hang tape and finish plus materials
figure 30 sheets @$10.00 per board his cost thats $300
plus 3 buckets of promix @ $13.00 per 5 gallon =$40.00
1 bag of durabond 90=$10.00 for prefills
2 bags of e-z sand 90 for fast dryin =$20.00
2 rolls of mesh tape=$6.00
1 large roll of paper tape -250 ft roll=$5.00
i -10lb box of of 1-1/4 drywall screws=$10.00
material is usually .25 cents a square ft
labor works out to $1.10 a sq ft
so it looks like $1440 and round off to $1500.00 for total cost

Harris, the OP neglected to mention the rooms are on the 5th flr with no elevator access, deliveries are only allowed between 12:30PM and 12:40PM, and there are several dozen cats....all doors must remain closed at all times as the cats are not "street ready".
All material storage and cutting must be performed in only the rooms to be renovated...again, the cats take precedence.

You guys like to 'round' yer numbers up?
Personally I'd like to get a quote for $1,440 over one thats an even $1,500... when ever i get a nicely rounded off number from one of my sub's it feels like a made up number. I know it's not but I'd rather think that their was a real method behind the bid.
I include every cent into my bid, just the way it comes out of the adding machine.
Just my thoughts.

sounds like you have 936 sq ft of wall and 364 sq ft of ceiling...
936 x $1.55 = $1,450.80
364 x $1.75 = $ 637.00
$2,087.80 for hanging and finishing drywall.
1,300 sq ft of paintable area
@ .55 cents psf. for low sheen premium quality paint..
$715.00
$2,802.80 subs total
x 20% general contractor costs
$560.56
to get me to come out to that place and do the work as I understood it would cost a total of: $3,363.36
No insulation
No demo
Materials included
Protection, clean up and haul away included...
One year guarantee.

Since its only the ceilings ( 3 - 12's and 4 - 16's = 336 sq ft ) and overlayed (2" screws + laminaters) and 2 fixtures to R&R (electrician), Floors to mask and furniture to move? Sanded slick or knock-down? Don't forget to glue it (about $40 for glue and $25 for qt gun) plus two Chiropractic visits, x-rays and band-aids and remember to get that reel good shiny paint but go ahead and use that cheap-a$$ roller! Pricelesss!!! Send us pictures of your completed work!!

Hey I think I am bidding the same jo...ah I mean I ...am ..doing another job in a...different city, yeah.
Hey cleanman, what are you going to charge for this job, which I am not in any form bidding against you on...yeah?
It sure would be help for me not to have to do any figuring or pretending to be in business for my self and knowing what I am doing. And remember I may not...uh...AM NOT bidding against you...yeah.
Andy.

Same job, two totally different ways to look at them. Aint this the best business ever?
I like how the OP has been helped before and only has the 1 post, that is great. Way to call it out Celtic.
Hey Simplejack, take a look at the OP, I don't think the walls are supposed to be redone. How close would your quote be to Harris then. Just curious and I was too lazy to do any math.......
