Re: Couple More Pics

when glueing, do you use the drywall adhesive found in the large tubes or some sort of special adhesive?

I did some demo at a job once where the walls had been glued and screws-only problem is the glue had apparently dried before the wallboard was installed and therefore useless :-(

When I glue, I glue the wall, slap the sheet up, then pull it away for a second, then slap it back. Never had a problem with the glue not bonding

I use miracle also.Good stuff! 20 years ago all board was glued around here. Now that the Mexicans have moved in,I would say only about 10% of new homes are glued.A board shot full of screws can only cause more repairs later.

After paint, this house looks like McDonald Play house for kids (Hamburger) or IKEA store playroom full of colorful "Balls of Fury"..... Hard to sell this Doll house property too.

Re: Couple More Pics

Anyone else notice the missing screws???

There missing EVERYWHERE. In Canada its code and general knowledge to make sure those screws can hold that 1/2" or what ever type of board your hanging.

Generally 1/2" has a standard number of rows, 4 screws "vertically" spaced about 18" apart.

And...

5/8 has 5 screws "vertically" spaced about 12-18"

And this changes when you use anything other then standard board. A high density "heavier" board will call for more screws.

Just imagine after all that hard work it starts to sag and crack, just because you left out screws.

Other then that it looks great!!

X2 As stated above I always glue and screw! Just gluing the board is a big Ever do any Reno work where you have to remove some older sheetrock work? Over many years the glue becomes very dried out and bridle. I have seen plenty of jobs where the sheetrock just pops right off the stud and the glue right along with it!

My thoughts EXACTLY! We always used glue to hang board was when we're doing basement reno's where we throw up two layers of 5/8 and use this green goo for sound deadening. AND its at owners request. And we always screwed the sheet to code. You need that board to hang there the life of the house. Just gluing with a few screws isn't going to do S***, all that work may just start to crack as the house settles in the next few years.

IMHO ALWAYS screw and your choice to glue Lol

The way I see it, if it isn't in the plans and its still to code there isn't any need for glue. I've see it used many times in renos but I only see use when there is more then one layer of board. Not to mention the glue is only holding the paper for the most part.

Cheers K
