You Have To Start Somewhere

This is a video of my 4 year old and a Yanmar mini-micro excavator.

We had to push some 40' dock poles down to the river for the piling barge to set them at our dock. I was teaching him to push the poles against the dozer blade to move them back so he could push them down to the river bank.

We usually do this with a 580 but my son wanted to help. This is the only machine in which he can easily reach the controls. I'm really happy he gets to do this stuff now and builds some confidence on machines early.

I wish I had a Dad like me...lol

Looks like he is doing a good job! Reminds me of me when I was young.

He actually does for a 4 year old. He gets mad at me when I don't go buy an excavator for him. I have to apologize for being a carpenter...lol. That little machine belongs to a friend who does demolition. It's the smallest of his fleet. He let my son run one his huge Kumatsu a couple times but it's so big he's a little scared. My wife thinks he dreams about it all the time so he knows what to do when he gets in the machine.

As much as I want him to learn a trade, I also want him to go to college...just in case.
