Winter Demo

This is a job that we did over the winter. Customer purchased this house with barn and 40 acres in the highest priced regions in my area. His new house will be next to the highest assessed house in the county. The man that originally developed this 1,000 acre tract of land was a colonel in the army and when coming home after WW1 he built a small village to resemble one that he saw in France. He built the house that we demo'ed, the barn and little cottages around. It is a real beauty of a place.

The house didn't look like much on the outside, but was beautiful on the inside. It was an old home and did not fit in with the the owner. One reason being it had low ceilings on the 3rd floor and he around 6'4". We took 120 to the land fill and all the concrete from the foundation and swimming pool we hauled in our wiggle wagon and buried them in the back of the property. It took 60 loads. The foundation walls were 2' thick poured concrete and there were 2 chimneys that sat on huge concrete piers. Needless to say, it had to be hammered.

Re: Winter Demo

Nice project to have through the winter.

Did you tear the whole joint down?

Those silos/towers and red barn looking section, look pretty cool.

More important....did you get the green light to do the site work for the new house/compound he has planned?

Barn stayed. The silos, he wants down. I told him that he needs someone with a lift to take them down by hand. He had someone up there repairing the roof.

The new house is going to be a monster, but he needs to sell his other house first. Who knows when that will be.
