sewer line install
We had to install a grinder pump and run a 1.25" pressure sewer line up 200' of road and tap a manhole for a house. We hired flagmen and shut down one lane of road. Had to haul all excavated material out and backfill and compact with modified. Had only 1 water and 1 gas service to cross. We hand dug the gas service before we started and smelled gas. Called the gas company and they came down and found a gas leak on a fitting with their sniffer. We also had shale the whole way and thank god we rented that 312 on rubber cuz I beat her up a bit getting that shale out.

rino,
Looks like you could apck up tonight and move to Watertown, South Dakota and give the locals a run for their money.
Has it been fun to be working in the street?
Nice job!

How did you backfill?
Did you have to haul the soil back in and scoop it out of the back of the dump trucks?
Looks like it was a fun job.

We had modified stockpiled in the driveway of the house plus a load of 1B stone (pea gravel) for the pressure line. We used the backhoe to bed the pipe and we had our excavator load the modified into the dump truck and I dipped it out of the truck to backfill.
BTW Tom, I am gonna PM you soon.

Forgive my ignorance guys But when you say grinder pump, does that grind up the sewage then pump it through that 1 1/4" line or am I way off ?

You got it. Some areas with small pipes have a "force main", where you pump into the sewer main under pressure, as the sewer main is a pretty small diameter.
