last snow storm was a dewzie on my loader!

first I hit a curb so hard it shattered the cab door window, and then the next day I was stacking a snow pile and a big chunk of ice rolled over the bucket and shattered the windshield. I am glad I had my lunch box set between the steering wheel and joystick cause it stop the ice from joining me.

Dig,

People don't think of snow removal as hard work. Snow is "soft". It sure does take a toll on equipment and "men". Rest up I'm sure there's more on the way.

That was a rough nite I hate plowing for people. I did this year and will never do it again. I am going to run my own plow next year off of the 2 trucks we have. a f-450 and a f-250 both diesels.

The thing about snow is this to not push too fast since it covers up a lot of stuff. One year in MO. we were plowing a huge mall parking lot. It was the most snow they had had in quite awhile so of course being southerners, they were having fun! Pushing snow everywhere without knowing exactly where to go with it. The trucks working with me (in a Backhoe) and the skiddies, were just making piles everywhere instead of pushing to one big pile towards the back of the parking lot. So we get to be close to finishing, and my boss comes over and asks "get rid of that damn pile right over there and put it with the rest of the big pile"...This pile was maybe 5 feet high or so but pretty small area. He said the trucks had just pushed up to that place a few times. So I go boring into it in 3rd gear.....waiting to see fluffy snow woosh over my backhoe as I come out the other side with a full bucket (I wanted to play a little too after 30 some odd strait hours....) BAMM!!!! no going through.....there was a tiny little island of curb right there. The trucks had decided to just push some snow up there while I was on the other side of the mall the night before. So as I slowly peel my face off the front glass, dislodge the steering wheel from my lower regions....I remembered ....just take it slow......Never dive into piles until you know what's underneath! lesson learned....notice I said there WAS a tiny little curb island.....I had a bucket full of curb once I regained my senses and dumped out......I can still feel it like it just happened!!!!!
