The local nuke plant bought up quite a few properties to do an expansion and add 2 more reactors. We demo'ed 2 of the houses which will make way for the construction entrance when they start. I only have pics of the 2nd house as I forgot my camera for the first.

nice work, and machine... now i gota question on a job like that will you cave the foundation walls in and than fill it or just start filling with dirt?

It varies from locality to locality. Most of the time you need to remove all the concrete. This is the common thing for houses. Yet you get on big industrial jobs and the only requirement is you remove concrete 4 feet below the final grade most of the times. If you have something that wont drain, you need to break the concrete in the bottom so it allows the water to drain.

The power company wanted the foundation demo'ed 3' below grade. We busted up the floor first so it will drain and knocked in the walls and filled with dirt and seeded. Most of the time, contracts call for complete removal of foundation.

The only thing I hate about demo is the darn dust!

Looked like an OK, house too bad, I hope the Power Co. paid the former owners well.

ok thanks cause in ny i sometimes do foundation demos for contractors... for new construction i have to break out the whole foundation and remove all debris, depending on the size... thats a **** load of concrete for the average home, depending if im in nassau or suffolk county, they will let me leave the floor for the latter

That house looks like a good candidate for relocation. Its a shame that it was tore down. I have moved dozens of houses for expansion of different projects and have tore down many as well. Nice job though.
