amazing, 18 yrs ago!

here is a pic of a gas tank job we did. it's poor quality, a scan of a polaroid pic i had laying in the drawer here. this ruston-bucyrus 150 excavator is the first one i owned on my own. this particular job, we removed 4000 cu yds of contaminated soil, ended up about 28' deep. as you can see, i've got that excavator down in the hole to get the depth we needed to get all the contamination.

That's cool. I love to see the old boom/crowd cross-sections; they look they'd break in two the first time you pulled on something hard.
Does anyone even make an excavator any more with the cab located to right of the boom?

Joe,

I think I found it. Look at the machine down at the tracks almost dead center. You see it there next to the track!

Great picture day. Did you ever adjust that boom? was it difficult to do? How were the controls laid out on that machine? What motor?

i never adjusted the boom, left it the way i found it when i bought it. i have to say it was a wonderful excvator. deutz air cooled diesel, used VERY little fuel. it came with what i call "john deere" controls...i just changed the hoses on the pilots to get it to SAE
