Orbital Welding Systems

Does anyone have knowledge or experience with this type of welding. The application at issue for me is to have 316L SS tubing welded with this method. There are 2 tubing runs at approximately 500 feet each, both runs will be installed in tray systems for support. One tube run is 1/4" OD and the other is 1/2" OD, both have a wall thickness of 0.049". Hydraulic fluid will be eventually flowing through these lines to operate control valves. Do any of ya'll see a problem with using this method for this length..? And could you recommend a good manufacturer for this welder. I understand that Swagelok has a welder that would meet these needs, but I have no knowledge of their welder. I will contact one of their reps for more info. Thanks for the feedback.

If you are still looking for help with this issue, let me know. I can either quote the job for you or provide some assistance with finding a orbital welding machine or vendor near you.

Re: Orbital Welding Systems

We own three MK Products rigs, and a bunch of Copperhead III orbital heads. We keep 6 of our guys trained on orbital, although we don't use it continuously throughout the year. We've rented Arc Machines in the past, and had training on Swagelok's new system, but when it came down to a purchase, MK just had a better mix of accessories. We do tubing from 1/4 inch up to 6 inch. Also, when it comes to end prep, we use Wachs end facers and saws.
