AISC Steel Pipe Column On Conc. Curb Wall
I have a project where a 3.5" AISC standard steel pipe column will bear on a concrete wall to support a W-beam above a garage door opening. I'm wondering if anyone can point out a particular book or document where I can find out how wide the concrete wall needs to be to support the pipe column and the specific attachment details for the column to the wall. I'm also trying to find out the size of the plate on either end of the pipe column. Does the plate size vary by steel manufacturer or is that AISC standard as well? So far the only thing I've found is the AISC Steel Construction Manual but as it's $350.00 I'd like to be sure it's the book I need before I purchase it. If anyone can shed some light on this for me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
