Soil Compaction
Anyone have a link to a site that discusses soil compaction and the weight of concrete?
The basement dig I am on is getting to be worrisome....not more then a few feet over the water table, and we are not getting good compaction with a rammer. My calculations come to about 5 pounds per sq/inch load on the base footings, and less then 2 on the floor. I will probably call an engineer today, but any information would help.

Re: Soil Compaction
Alot of times the weight of the concrete is speced in the mix design. I have always used 4000 lbs. Most of the mixes I use are between 3850-3950. It sounds like you may need to set up a well point system to lower the watertable long enough to obtain proper compaction and pour.
