Residential Lic Move Up To Commercial Lic.


Looking to go for my commercial lic. I have been a residential lic contractor for 25 yrs.....but like most its starting to slow down in my area...can u guys give me insight to books or classes to study for the test, NC.

Just curious- hace you ever worked on commercial projects? I ask because just having the license doesn't make one qualfied to do the work. With the slowdown in residential, there's been alot of contractors trying to jump into commercial work, and the results are often disastrous. For some basic trades like drywall and painting it's not too much of a transition, but if you're looking to GC commercial work without having done it before, you're liable to lose your shirt.

yeah, done 2 medical buildings, 5,000 sq ft each.....animal hospital, 4,000 sq ...all plans done by over seeing arch./eng. i understnad about the wireing codes and the live and dead load differances in commerical and residental..the concrete change....not worked with alot of steel, se used mostly LVL and g-lambs.....
