New to commercial construction

This may vary state to state, but is it typically required to have bonding on ALL commercial jobs? I have done a few small office buildings for past clients so no bonds were required. But, we are looking to bid on some larger jobs that have not verified either way. Should we expect to have to find bonding? It seems like surety bonds are getting tougher to obtain right now.

Generally speaking, larger jobs will require bonding. Varies with the GC and the contract.

Different states have different laws.

I believe here the law is for anything being built or remodeled over 25k you are required to have a bond.

It's not exactly a bad idea to get bonded regardless.

Does anyone know of a good bonding company? It seems like they need an arm and a leg just to consider you. Like I said I'm new and the companies I've found want commercial experience to even consider you.
