Mcdonalds Remodel

Bidding on exterior interior frame work for a McDonald's remodel. Has anyone on the forum done these before? The interior framing is simple but the exterior arcade walls I'm curious in what time frame others have gotten it done and tools they used how many guys on their crews etc. I can do the work but there is always a learning curve and knowing it before you do the job can be a big help!!

I can't help you with your questions, but I hope you get the job and post a bunch of pictures. It will be cool watching it come together.

Re: Mcdonalds Remodel

I bid the interior trim once on a Mcdonalds. I didn't get the job because I was $200 higher than the other guy and wouldn't drop my price.

Yes, did a bunch, framing and carpentry package. The designs have changed over the years so I can't help on specifics. However I will offer that you absolutly need to understand and follow the plans and build exactly to the details. The McD's CM's know their buildings very well and will hold you to most every detail. There's no such thing as "it's better if you do this" things you may propose, regardless how simple, need to be RFI'ed to the architect. Even though you are likely working for the store owner, McD's corporate CM's manages the construction to the corp. standard. I would also ask the GC how many McD's he's built. The learning curve on them is significant and when you have a remodel you don't have time to learn. The GC's ability to manage, coordinate and schedule the trades will have a direct impact on your ability to be successful.

Never been wowed at the workmanship of any McD's remodels, maybe you can set the new standard.

I have done a Sonic in Dothan, Alabama. Wolverine Classic in Clay.

Re: Mcdonalds Remodel

Unfortunately I didn't win this project. The guys I'm bidding against are working for cheap. We also bid on concrete work for a drive thru, sidewalks and a few other things and another sub and I bid about the same price of 34-36k. We both got beat by a guy that did it for 19.5k. Good luck to him!!
