I like that..."square lines". Are you looking for something to project a square on a ceiling? I don't have experience with a tool which performs that function and would be curious as to whether or not it's possible. I know projectors have a feature called keystoning (I think...second hand knowledge) which keeps the picture square as the projector is tilted. This would be a big project when projecting onto a ceiling, unless it's straight up and the ceiling is on a horizontal plane.

maybe these guys have something for you

constructioncomplete.com they have a bunch of lasers in survey equipment.

I noticed they have a laser chalk line that you could point on the ceiling. that would only give you one line though.

Rotary Laser - gives you your level for the edges & the field

Set your edges, do your layout measurements & away you go (No need for a laser)

I have installed "miles" of grid, I use the Hilti PR 25 rotary. It has card for attaching to grid so you keep it level thru out the span of your grid,is great for large areas and must have if you do alot of grid. It runs around $700.00 but pays for itself with the time saved,Good luck.

Hilti is a great tool, the Spectra 1452XL good as well it has a card, a remote, wall mount, and it is light , great for grid, but versatile, also.

Laser

Matt, Maybe I am missing something but , I think I may have an Idea, Search for a Robotoolz Laser, has a dual head rotary that can be laid on its back to produce 2 lines perpendicular to each other if necessary.

what is the problem with running a quik string line. I can see where it could take a longer to set the laser as it would to run out a line (or at least some of the guys that work for me). Hilti PR 25 is about the best you can do for the $$

Your basic Stanley, available at Home Depot, at a cost of $200 has level, plumb and a lock setting for square. Lay it on its back and twist it to align with walls. Don't remember the model, I'm afraid.

with that pls and hilti, and the plum pointers, only thing you need is someone to build it. ive ran grid with just strings. as far as to running lines under the grid after it is ran with laser. patent that idea along with the one about the need for a scaffold that rolls auto and goes up and down.
