In chicago union prices are 65.00 75.00 an hour.

Non union is 45.00 65.00 depending on the job and conditions.

Re: Current Prices

When you are quoting your prices for commercal work, are you bidding at an hourly rate? Or are you giving a fixed cost price for specific work, and does this typically include material.

I've just gotta ask- what are you planning on doing with these prices, considering they're really not useful for anything?

I hope you're not planning on basing your prices on what you find out here, since the numbers you may get will have absolutely no basis in your reality- what your overhead costs are, your workers' salaries, etc.

I've seen a couple of bids where the general conditions required that I use the prevailing local wage rates. I think a certified payroll was implied.

Re: Current Prices

Yeah, I have turned in a couple of bids where I had to provide for my employees at the prevailing wage rates for their field. In Illinois I can look it up at IDOL.com (Illinois Dept. of Labor), they update it each month. This last summer I had a high school helper on and for one project I informed him he would be making about $22.50/hr - so he better be jumping - Nope, he just worked at his same laid back pace. I was pretty happy to drop him back down to earth the following week.
