Brick anchors on tilt up concrete panels

Usually inspectors want to see wall ties on the whole building before they are comfortable giving a green tag which requires scaffold. I think it makes more sense to shoot them on while the panel is on the ground. What do you think?

Since the wall is being covered with masonry after it is stood the finish is not as critical as if were just being painted. Why not place them after the pour (wet set)?

Just out of curiousity, where are you and what is the average cost per sq.ft. of Tilt Up, complete?

I ask since I do ICF walls and am usually a little less and the schedule moves a little quicker. Plus I can embed the wall ties prior to pour.

I don't think the concrete guys would let somebody walk on their wet concrete. I don't do tilt up panels. I 'm a mason in the D/FW metroplex.

All tilt up walls I see have the anchoring system in place, usually the slot for dovetail anchors. Seems like anything else would be a waste of time and not as secure.

I've seen where an angle iron failed to support the weight of 50' x16' of modular brick. The wall only fell 2 1/2 inches because our wall tie hangers(hooks) held strong. We shot the straps with a hilti gun. Before this happened I was always skeptical of that method on account of occasional blow outs but it was successful. I should also add that the guy with the gun kept shooting them too close together. He was told to keep them 16 inches apart but it looked more like 12 to me.

The panel with sign IMAX on the left side of the entrance was section that fell. The angle iron above the window went from an L shape to an l shape. My brother warned the architect if control joints were put next to the columns along with the fact that the angle iron did not rest on the columns either plus that concrete panel was not flush with the rest of the other panels, it was like four inches back a requiring the spacers to be welded in between the inevitibly doomed iron and the concrete panel plates. Every engineer, architect, and project manager in Dallas was all of a sudden ready to listen to what my brother tried to tell them two year before.
